Oranjedance: 33 minutes set

On August 23 Sergio Tee played a unique set of classics pushing himself to grab as many tracks as he could without making quick mixing disturbing.

Sergio Tee was in Katwijk, his place of birth, to play a unique set of only 33 minutes to open Oranjedance on a huge stage. He started his set with an interlude that immediately brought us back to 1991! These are the ingredients I used for my interlude I’m gonna play this tonight at @oranjedance. All elements are from Sergio’s early days in house… From a time he went to Club ‘71 in Noordwijk at a very young age.
From a time that is so different compared to today’s world.

About the interlude… X-TC X-TC… the opener starts with the famous whispers from Joey Beltram’s Energy Flash followed by the requiem of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff which was used in O Fortuna by Apotheosis… the forbidden house record of 1991. Then a filtered voice by Sergio Tee himself says ‘My God, it’s full of music!’ Immediately a quick reference to the first House Party CD appears and 100% Dissin’ You is the kickstarter for the beat.

Sergio started his set with a fab rework of the amaziing tune Café Del Mar by Energy 52, a track that is really a monumental tune from his days when he was a dancer at iT in Amsterdam in the 90’s. He played the track in full length and near the end Work by Kevin McKay. Only the first lyrics and the chorus line made it a highlight as the upcoming transferring to Cubik 22’s Night In Motion came in. As soon as ‘Party Time!’ was heard Be Free by DJ Kone & Marc Palacios was mixed in as the following track. As soon as the beat started again after the beautiful firdst break of the track it was time for Gimme Some To Dance To by WhiteTronicZ & Sergio Tee, this tune was created last year and has such a enormous festival vibe. After Gimme Some To Dance To it was time for a lil’ sing-a-long moment: Robin S whith her iconic Show Me Love! Halfway the first couplet Sergio mixed a revisited Club Mix of Plastic Dreams through. As soon as the track really started Don’t You Want Me by Felix was added. The next track was an edit Sergio once made for Pride; Lethal Industry by Ryan Marciano & Sunnery James with in the break Free by Ultra Naté. This was the second and last sing-a-long moment in this set. When the beat started again Sergio mixed Green Velvet’s Flash in. As soon as the famous words were heard, Camera’s Ready Prepare To Flash, Tee mixed a version of The Orange Theme in. It was a remake by Andrew Bennett and it was the perfect ending.

The setlist was so well prepared. First Sergio had selected some great tunes and a set was ready. But in the papers was told Sergio would play his tunes with classic vibes and the feeling of the early days. So Sergio changed his set from classics with tech house and techno to a set fully loaded with only classics. It became a set of 14 tracks including the interlude. A test recording of this unique set took place on August 18 and will be available on Mixcloud on Monday August 25. It was quick recorded and you can hear that is was really made to hear if it works really well all these tracks together.
